Lingo & Macromedia Director
The scripting language JHT designed at Macromedia. Powered two decades of interactive multimedia.

Lingo is the scripting language John Henry Thompson designed at Macromedia for Director. It powered the interactive logic underneath two decades of CD-ROM titles, museum kiosks, and education software worldwide.
Thompson built Lingo to be readable by anyone: the syntax reads like English, the logic stays visible, and the author stays in control. He returned to develop it for a final year in 2003. He still teaches it at NYU Tisch ITP.
